Our Investment Capabilities
CFIP was founded by its two Managing Principals, Brad Couri and Levoyd Robinson, who worked together at Citadel Investment Group structuring the fundamental credit business. The managing principals direct the investment process with the support of portfolio managers and research analysts responsible for covering specific industries, idea generation, and fundamental credit analysis. Our team has actively allocated to the leveraged loan space for over 20 years, and has purchased and sold over $10 billion of leveraged loans and senior secured bonds since the launch of firm’s first fund in 2006.
In October of 2016, CFIP entered into a strategic partnership with the Academy Group, Inc. a Chicago-based philanthropic entity, to satisfy Dodd-Frank CLO risk retention requirements. The Academy purchased a strategic, minority ownership interest in CFIP. As part of that transaction, the Academy will arrange $160 million of capital into CFIP’s management company for investments in CLOs and other products to be managed by CFIP. Furthermore, the Academy has agreed to arrange a backstop for the placement of the AAA tranches of the next four CLOs managed by CFIP.
